On Sunday, January 5, Hollywood stars gathered at the prestigious Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, for the annual Golden Globe Awards.

The ceremony recognized the year's most celebrated films and television shows. Emilia Pérez triumphed as Best Motion Picture - Musical, while Shōgun and Hacks dominated the television categories.

Actor Vin Diesel, best known for starring in the Fast and Furious franchise, took to the stage to present the award for film cinematic and box office achievement.

Before presenting the award, the 57-year-old gave a small but notable shoutout to his former costar, Dwayne Johnson, saying: "Hi Dwayne..."

The wrestler-turned-actor's initial smile quickly vanished as the Beverly Hills Hilton audience began to laugh at his visible discomfort.

Watch the awkward moment below:

Johnson played Luke Hobbs in five installments of the popular franchise, including the 2019 spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, opposite Jason Statham.

In recent years, Johnson and Diesel had been engaged in a public falling out. Back in 2016, the 52-year-old shared an inflammatory post allegedly aimed at Diesel, which read: “Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t.

"The ones that don’t are too chicken s*** to do anything about it anyway. Candy a**es," he continued, cited by The Independent. “When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling - you’re right."

Following years of public disagreement, Johnson announced his departure from the franchise in 2021. However, a surprising turn of events unfolded in the summer of 2023 when the WWE star revealed that he would be returning to the series.

The Moana star penned on X (formerly Twitter) that he and Diesel had “put all the past behind us," adding: “We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve - and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love... I’ve built my career on an ‘Audience First’ mentality and that will always serve as my North Star.”

Despite reports of a reconciliation, viewers couldn't help but notice the awkwardness between the two actors during the Golden Globes ceremony.

“You can cut the tension between The Rock and Vin Diesel with a knife,” one user commented. "They legit don’t f*** with each other & it's hilarious," a second wrote.

“Tonight we got to see what the rock looks like when he’s fantasizing about tearing vin diesel in half,” a third quipped. "You could literally see The Rock’s hatred towards Vin Diesel in that shot. Oh my gosh. 'Hey Dwayne'. Amazing haha," a fourth added.

Johnson and Diesel will star in the forthcoming 11th 'Fast' movie, which is due to be released in 2026.
