In recent years, celebrities have turned baby naming into an art form — or at least a headline-grabbing statement.
From Elon Musk and Grimes naming their son X Æ A-12 to Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin famously choosing Apple for their daughter, Hollywood’s approach to baby names has gone from traditional to totally unconventional.
Whether it's a play on words, a nod to obscure mythology, or a made-up name entirely, these choices often spark debate and fascination. While some fans admire the creativity, others wonder how these kids will feel navigating playground roll calls.
But for celebs, standing out is part of the brand — and their baby names are no exception.

It turns out Sia is no different from her high-profile peers. According to divorce documents obtained by PEOPLE, Sia has quietly welcomed her third child, her first with Dan Bernad on March 27, 2024.
The 49-year-old singer had kept the birth private until now, revealing in court filings that the baby, now 11 months old, is named Somersault Wonder Bernad.
The name has sparked a wave of reactions across social media. One user on X (formerly Twitter) questioned if the 'Elastic Heart' vocalist used "a random word generator to pick the name," while another slammed: "It's such an ugly name."
A third criticized: “Celebrities have GOT to stop naming their kids weird names,” a fourth agreed: “Why are we naming children after gymnastics moves?” and TV host Mario Lopez joked: “What are the other two named? Cartwheel and Backflip??"
Meanwhile, one Reddit user speculated that the name might be a tribute to Sia's earlier work, noting that "Somersault" was a song she performed with the band Zero 7 in 2004.

Sia and Bernad tied the knot in a surprise ceremony at Dolce & Gabbana’s Villa Olivetta in Portofino, Italy, in May 2023, attended by just four guests.
The couple had been together since at least December 2021, when they attended the premiere of Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story together.
In her divorce filing, the singer cited irreconcilable differences and is seeking legal and physical custody of Somersault, with visitation rights for Bernad. She has also requested that the court not grant spousal support to either party.
The 'Unstoppable' artist's path to motherhood began well before the arrival of her baby Somersault. Back in 2019, she adopted two 18-year-old boys who were on the verge of aging out of the foster care system.
One of the teens appeared in the 2016 HBO documentary Foster, which delved into life within the child welfare system. The film led Sia to seek him out two years later and ultimately adopt him.
When the teen asked if his cousin, Che, could also move in, Sia didn’t hesitate. "I had two spare bedrooms, so I said, 'Sure!'" she told InStyle in a 2020 interview. "And even though I'd never met Che before, he also moved in with me that evening."
Later, she discovered that the two boys weren’t biologically related - they had simply become close friends during their time in foster care. But that didn’t change how she felt.
"I just felt so blessed to have them both with me," Sia said. "And I've realized over the past year that Che was meant to be my son, too."
In a January 2021 interview with The Project, she opened up about the emotional complexities of raising teenagers from difficult backgrounds.
"Most of their lives they've been conditioned to lie and manipulate, so the past year has been all about teaching them how to become rigorously honest and live in the moment without using any substances," she said, cited by PEOPLE.
Though she acknowledged there had been “a lot of heartache,” Sia said she fully trusts both of her boys.
“And I'm proud because they've come a very long way."
