Following the tragic loss of General Hospital star Billy Miller, his cause of death has been revealed.
As previously reported, Miller was sadly confirmed to have lost his life on Friday (September 15) at the age of 43.
Miller's manager confirmed the heartbreaking news on Friday in Austin, Texas, marking a somber coincidence with what would have been the actor's 44th birthday (September 17), as reported by Variety.
The heartbreaking statement revealed that "the actor was struggling with manic depression when he died."
His mother, Patricia Miller, has since shared a statement with Soap Opera Digest, where she confirmed that he son died by suicide.
"I want to personally thank the many fans & personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers & condolences sent to me and my family on the devastating death of my beautiful son BJ — Billy Miller," Patricia began.
"He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life."
Patricia concluded her statement by thanking everyone for their love and support, and that she is desperately trying to come to terms with this tragic loss.
Miller's journey into showbiz began when he was signed as a model with the prestigious Wilhelmina agency. Later, he transitioned to acting, earning a role as Richie Novak in the iconic soap opera All My Children from 2007 to 2008.
However, his breakout role was yet to come when he joined the cast of The Young and the Restless, stepping into the shoes of Billy Abbott for 719 episodes.
It was on this show that Miller made his mark, winning three Daytime Emmys, including two for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and one for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
In 2014, Miller bid farewell to The Young and the Restless but continued his acting journey on General Hospital, where he graced the screen in nearly 600 episodes.
On this show, he portrayed both Jason Morgan and Drew Cain, maintaining a series regular spot until 2019.
He then departed for the hit show Suits where he played opposite Meghan Markle with a five-episode appearance.
Beyond the realm of soap operas, Miller showcased his versatility through guest appearances on a number of TV shows, including NCIS, The Rookie, Truth Be Told, Major Crimes, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and Castle.
His talents also extended to the big screen, with roles in Clint Eastwood's 2014 war drama American Sniper and Craig Brewer's 2016 TV movie drama Urban Cowboy, where he starred alongside Nathalie Kelley.
Our thoughts remain with Miller's loved ones during this difficult time.
