Coach Tyler Wall, a central figure in MrBeast’s 100-pound weight loss challenge video, died unexpectedly before filming was completed.

Wall was serving as the personal trainer to Majd, a longtime friend of YouTuber MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, who was attempting to lose 100 pounds in six months.

The project was designed to be immersive as Majd lived in a controlled environment with a private chef, custom gym, and round-the-clock coaching.

Wall’s death was confirmed by the content creator's team, who stated that it was sudden and unrelated to the production. The cause has not been disclosed out of respect for Wall’s family, per The Tribune.

In response to the tragedy, MrBeast offered to cancel the video entirely if Wall’s family objected.

“This wasn’t about views, it was about honoring someone who gave his all to help someone else change their life,” he said during a livestream. “We didn’t want it to feel like we were using Coach Wall’s legacy for content.”

With the family’s blessing, the team moved forward, making several edits to pay tribute to Wall. The video, now seen over 74 million times, documents not only Majd’s transformation but also the emotional toll of the journey and the powerful role Wall played in it.

As tributes poured in, Wall’s final Instagram post, shared on January 11, offered a raw, introspective glimpse into his mindset just before his death.

“Everyone is out here posting their highlight reels of 2024, and I'm over here like… I’ve had a consistent string of days I’ve been glad to wake up,” he wrote. “My heart's still beating, that's a good thing. We've contained the bleeding; that's a good thing. 2024 was f***ing ROUGH for me. My most difficult year walking this planet yet.”

He acknowledged the highs and lows: “A lot of wonderful memories were made with even more wonderful people. A lot of time was spent crying alone, feeling alone and questioning my worth and place on this Earth. (I sure know how to wear a convincing smile though).

“As tough as it has been, I don’t wish any of it away. Not a day. Not a moment,” he continued. “Life gives me exactly what I need, even if I don’t see what it is in the moment. In the depths of my suffering, I’ll figure it out.”

Wall concluded with words that now feel especially poignant: “I only want more of what is, even if what is isn’t what I wanted. I can trust that I'm always supported by the fabric of existence itself. This is the only raw + honest way to true peace, and I can dig that. Feel me?”

In the YouTube video, Majd acknowledged the immense role the late coach played in his success: “I wouldn’t be where I am right now without Coach Wall. I owe so much to him. This video is for him.”

MrBeast echoed that sentiment: “Majd has struggled with his weight for years, and we all wanted to see him healthy and thriving. This challenge was about giving him the motivation and tools to make real, lasting change, and we were with him every step of the way.”

Our thoughts are with Wall's loved ones at this heartbreaking time.
