However, despite the Hollywood legend's passionate endorsement, people on social media have been quick to made the same joke.

In a video shared on his Instagram on Friday, DiCaprio highlighted the urgent need for leadership that addresses the critical issues of climate change and economic sustainability.

DiCaprio, a staunch environmentalist, has been vocal about his concerns for the planet for many years. His endorsement comes at a crucial time, referencing the recent catastrophic events like Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, which he labels as "unnatural disasters caused by climate change."

"Climate change is killing the earth and ruining our economy, we need a bold step forward to save our economy, our planet and ourselves," DiCaprio said. "That’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris."

In his endorsement video, DiCaprio lauded Harris for her commitment to ambitious environmental goals, including achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and promoting a green economy. He commended her pivotal role in the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act as vice president, where she cast the tie-breaking vote in favor of President Joe Biden’s landmark climate legislation.

And, in a direct comparison, DiCaprio criticized former President Donald Trump’s environmental policies, particularly his decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate accord and his rollback of essential environmental protections. DiCaprio accused Trump of continuing to "deny the facts" and "deny the science" that support climate change.

However, soon after sharing his video, the seriousness of the Titanic star's words was underscored by people making the same joke: that DiCaprio had finally chosen a woman over the age of 25.

For those who may be unaware, let me catch you up.

DiCaprio - who is now 49 - has made headlines over the last decade or so for dating woman who are considerably younger than him, leading to online rumors that he has a "25 and under rule".

"First time he’s chosen a woman over 25… but I’ll take it," one X user quipped.

A second jokingly asked: "Does he know she’s over the age of 25?"

"Finally showing interest in a girl that’s above 25," another X user tweeted, with a fourth adding: "This is the first time he has chosen a woman who is over 25."

Yes, it seems that even when the fate of our nation is on the line, Leo just cannot escape the jokes about his dating history.

With the election drawing near, Kamala Harris has garnered endorsements from a litany of high-profile figures in entertainment, including Taylor Swift, Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Chris Rock, and George Clooney.

Adding to the campaign's momentum, Harris recently held a rally in the Atlanta suburbs, joined by former President Barack Obama and rock icon Bruce Springsteen.

While Harris enjoys support from various corners of the entertainment industry, Republican nominee Donald Trump has also attracted endorsements from celebrities such as Elon Musk, Dennis Quaid, Roseanne Barr, and Kid Rock.

With less than two weeks to go before voting day, we'll just have to wait and see if any of these big names are enough to sway it for the nominees.
