Madonna has been forced to delay her highly anticipated world tour due to an unforeseen health scare.
The "Material Girl" singer was recently admitted to an ICU owing to a severe bacterial infection, BBC News reports.
She was said to have spent several days in hospital, yet it is believed that she is on her way to a full recovery.
Guy Oseary, the singer's manager, revealed that Madonna was found unconscious before being hurried to a New York City hospital.
According to Page Six's exclusive coverage, the 64-year-old songstress was intubated for a brief period and is now alert and recuperating. Moreover, her daughter, Lourdes Leon, remained by her side throughout the medical ordeal.
Earlier this year, the pop diva unveiled plans for a 35-date global tour, marking her first-ever greatest hits journey.
The grand endeavor was aimed at commemorating the 40th anniversary of her chart-topping breakout single, Holiday. However, this unexpected health crisis has momentarily paused these plans.
Offering insights on Instagram, Oseary affirmed that Madonna "developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several day stay in the ICU."
While she is out of the ICU now, he added that she continues to be under medical supervision. However, he assured fans that "a full recovery is expected."
The news comes just a few months after the death of the singer's oldest brother, Anthony Ciccone.
Anthony died in February at the age of 66, and his death certificate states that it was down to a combination of respiratory failure and throat cancer, according to TMZ.
Madonna, 64, had also paid tribute to her late brother, sharing a photo of them enjoying a night out with a group of friends.
She wrote: "Thank you for blowing my mind as a young girl and introducing me to Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Buddhism, Taoism, Charles Bukowski, Richard Brautigan, Jack Kerouac, expansive thinking outing the box. You planted many important seeds."
Madonna grew up with Ciccone and their six other siblings - Martin, Paula, Melanie, Christopher, Jennifer, and Mario - on the outskirts of Detroit.
As the world awaits the rescheduled tour dates, the prayers and good wishes of her loyal fanbase are the Queen of Pop during her recovery.
