Marvel's 'Moon Knight' star Gaspard Ulliel dies aged 37 following tragic skiing incident

Gaspard Ulliel has tragically passed away at the age of 37.

The French actor - who is currently set to appear in the Disney+ upcoming Marvel series Moon Knight - died following a fatal skiing incident, news agency AFP reports.

Per Deadline, Ulliel's friends and family confirmed that the actor was hospitalized on Tuesday, January 18, after suffering a head injury while skiing in the Savoie region of the Alps. BBC News adds that the actor suffered a severe brain trauma after colliding with a fellow skier.

Following the incident, Ulliel was reportedly transported by helicopter to a hospital in Grenoble, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Ulliel is credited for being one of France's best-known and beloved cinema stars, appearing in movies such as Hannibal Rising, It’s Only The End Of The World, A Very Long Engagement, and the biopic Saint Laurent, in which he played the accalimed French designer.

The tragic news also comes just one day after the highly-anticipated trailer for Marvel's Moon Knight was released online. In the forthcoming series, Ulliel plays Midnight Man, alongside costars Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke.

His work on-screen earned him two César Awards, the first being for Most Promising Actor in 2004 following his performance in A Very Long Engagement, before taking home the Best Actor award for his role in 2017's It’s Only The End Of The World.

As well as acting, Ulliel was also a highly successful model, becoming the face of the Chanel fragrance Bleu de Chanel.

Ulliel was in a relationship with model-singer Gaëlle Piétri, and is survived by his six-year-old daughter.
