Even in the closest of relationships, watching your partner perform racy sex scenes on-screen is bound to feel strange.

For most people who aren’t polyamorous, the idea of someone you love hopping into bed with a co-star (even when it’s all simulated) can be deeply uncomfortable.

That’s exactly the situation Nicole Kidman found herself in while filming her upcoming movie Babygirl, where she revealed that some scenes left her feeling utterly “burned out.”

Kidman starred alongside Harris Dickinson (Iron Claw) in the drama, taking on the role of a high-powered CEO trapped in a loveless marriage. On-screen, she embarks on a secret affair with Dickinson’s character, her young intern.

The film explored a BDSM dynamic where, despite her professional authority, Dickinson’s character takes control in the bedroom, leading to numerous steamy and challenging scenes.

In a candid interview with The Sun, Kidman admitted: “There were times when we were shooting where I was like, 'I don't want to orgasm any more.' Don’t come near me. I hate doing this. I don’t care if I am never touched again in my life! I’m over it. It was so present all the time for me that it was almost like a burnout.”

While the average viewer might raise an eyebrow, Kidman revealed that her husband Keith Urban (from whom she had now recently split, according to The Guardian) reportedly took a relaxed view of her work.

Keith Urban “totally chill” about Kidman’s onscreen romance

Speaking to E! News Daily Pop, Kidman explained that Urban, also an artist, doesn’t often get involved with the intimate details of her work.

“He sees the show at the very end when it's a show, all edited together, and he's fresh eyes,” she said at the time. “He doesn't read any script, he really doesn't know what's going on on the set, he's got his own career that he's completely absorbed in. He doesn't know much about what I'm really doing.”
