Sunday night marks the 95th Academy Awards! And after last year's drama (nobody mention the slap), it looks like Oscars officials after keeping things fresh.

Yes, tonight mark's the biggest event on the movie calendar - and possibly the biggest night of awards season: the prestigious Academy Awards.

And if you're anything like me, you're probably sitting back, preparing to watch the evening's events unfold, and putting bets on which "comedian" will be the first to bring up Will Smith. (Darn, I mentioned it.)

But as the biggest stars of Hollywood walk the red carpet, some of you may have noticed a big change to the usual pomp and circumstance that we're used to seeing... the red carpet isn't actually red.

Yes, for the first time since 1961, per AP, the red carpet is no longer its iconic red color - instead, it looks the same color as the new rug my nan's had fitted in her living room. Only, the Oscars are apparently calling this color "champagne", whereas my nan calls it "light beige". Who knew?

The champagne carpet was first seen on Wednesday, when worker unspooled it outside of the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, where this evening's proceedings will take place.

And although it may not seem like a big deal, just bare in mind that the last time the red carpet wasn't red, Elizabeth Taylor was winning Best Actress for BUtterfield 8 and The Apartment won for Best Motion Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.

Ever since then - for 62 years - the carpet has always been some shade of red.

Speaking about the big change, tonight's host Jimmy Kimmel said: "I think the decision to go with a champagne carpet over a red carpet shows how confident we are that no blood will be shed."

Once again, what on Earth could he be talking about??

Oh yeah... this:

Good luck to all of tonight's nominees:
