A resurfaced clip from a 2018 Britney Spears gig appears to confirm one of the singer's allegations following a groundbreaking exposé in the New York Times.

Last week, the NY Times published a story detailing how the 39-year-old singer has been repeatedly battling and failing to end the conservatorship that controls her life.

The publication cited a transcript from confidential court documents taken during a reported closed-door court hearing in May of 2019. The papers state that Spears had recalled allegedly being forced to perform with a 104-degree (40c) fever.

The Grammy-award winner went on to describe it as "one of the scariest moments of her life".

Now, a fan of the singer has taken to Twitter to share a 19-second video from a Britney Spears concert at the Borgata Event Center in Atlantic City on July 19, 2018. The performance was part of Spears' Piece Of Me tour.

Per The Independent, the footage shows Spears telling the crowd how she is "sick and about to pass out", revealing that she was performing with a "102 fever".

Writing alongside the clip, Twitter user Zachary Gordon wrote: "Dear @britneyspears ….I feel like we owe you an apology.

"We bought into the whole hype of BRITNEY the performer, without much consideration for how Britney Jean Spears, the person, was coping through each day. Looking back now, I remember you saying this in front of me… and I just thought 'Wow, she’s such a trooper and cares so much to put on a show for her fans'.

"Now I can see with clear eyes that this was a dig at the people controlling you, making you go onstage, performing under high powered lights, all while you had a high-grade fever".

The singer's conservatorship has been legally in place since February of 2008, following Spears' public breakdown. Her father, 68-year-old Jamie Spears, was in charge of Britney's personal affairs up until September 2019, but he still has control over his daughter's estate, The Independent reports.

Amid her ongoing conservatorship battle, Spears took to Instagram earlier this week to apologize to her fans for "pretending" to be okay.

"I apologize for pretending like I've been ok the past two years," she wrote. "I did it because of my pride and I was embarrassed to share what happened to me… but honestly who doesn't want to capture [their] Instagram in a fun light!!!!"

The singer continued: "Believe it or not pretending that I’m ok has actually helped … so I decided to post this quote today because by golly if you're going through hell … I feel like Instagram has helped me have a cool outlet to share my presence … existence … and to simply feel like I matter despite what I was going through and hey it worked."
