With a career spanning over two decades, the 40-year-old actress has solidified herself as one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

From her breakout role in Lost in Translation to leading the Black Widow franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Johansson has received multiple award nominations, including two Academy Award nods in the same year for Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit.

Despite her massive success, she still values her personal space - especially when it comes to interactions with fans.

The Marriage Story star recently opened up about her boundaries when it comes to taking photos with fans, revealing that she has one specific rule that doesn’t always go over well.

"The thing about being a public figure is that the idea of being recognizable and celebrated feels fun, but then you can never stuff it back in the bottle. The reality of it is, there’s a massive loss to that, you know?" she told InStyle.

Because of this, she prefers to limit fan photos to professional settings, such as red carpets or promotional events - not during her everyday activities.

"It really offends a lot of people," Johansson admitted. "It doesn't mean I'm not appreciative, of course, that people are fans, or happy to see me."

She continued: "But I always say to people, ‘I'm not working.’ [And that means] I don't want to be identified as being in this time and place with you. I'm doing my own thing."

Johansson’s comments come after she and her husband, Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost, made headlines in December thanks to a joke at her expense.

Jost, who co-hosts SNL’s Weekend Update alongside Michael Che, dedicated one particular punchline to his wife - one that was more than a little risque.

"I want to dedicate this next joke to my boo, Scarlett Johansson," Jost said before referencing Costco’s menu change. "Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from its menu, but I ain’t tripping. I be eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid."

The camera quickly cut to Johansson, whose reaction - mouthing "oh my god" - instantly went viral.

Finishing the joke, Jost said: “Naw, I’m just playing, baby. You know I don’t go downtown.”

Reflecting on the jaw-dropping moment in the interview with InStyle, Johannson said: “It was so vulgar. I just can't believe that they went there. I was like — it was so gross. It was really gross. And, like, old-school gross.”

While the Marvel star said she had been warned that a “vagina joke” was going to be made, she didn’t realize it was going to be at her expense.

“I was like, I mean, it's a vagina joke, how bad could it be? And then, as soon as the Costco photo came up, I was like No! No, Michael!’” she remembered.
