Sean 'Diddy' Combs has shined some much-needed light on the aftermath of Will Smith's physical altercation with Chris Rock at last night's Academy Awards.

The Men In Black star made headlines around the world following his run-in with the comedian at Sunday night's ceremony, which was sparked after Rock made a joke about Smith's wife, Jada.

"Jada, I love ya! G.I. Jane 2 - can't wait to see it," 57-year-old Rock said after taking to the stage. The joke was seemingly a comment on Pinkett Smith's shaved head, which resembled Demi Moore's buzzcut in 1997's G.I. Jane.

However, 50-year-old Jada - who has been open in the past about her battle with alopecia - was left unimpressed, rolling her eyes and turning away from the stage. Moments later, husband Will took to the stage, approached Rock, and slapped him across the face.

And an uncensored video of the moment can be seen below (Warning - strong language):

"Keep my wife's name out of your f****** mouth," the actor shouted after returning to his seat.

Following the ugly incident, Combs took to the stage to present an award, but not before taking the opportunity to inject some positivity into the room.

"I did not know that this year was going to be the most exciting Oscars ever," he said, before addressing both Smith and Rock.

"Okay, Will and Chris, we're going to solve that like family at the Gold Party, okay? But right now, we are moving on with love," Combs added. "Everybody make some noise!"

And according to Combs, that's exactly what happened.

Following the ceremony, Combs told Page Six reporters at the Vanity Fair bash: "That’s not a problem. That’s over. I can confirm that.

"It’s all love. They’re brothers."

Later in the evening, Smith won the Best Actor Oscar for his role in King Richard, in which, he played the father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams.

During his speech, Smith took the time to apologize to the Academy, saying: "I want to apologize to the Academy, I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine a light on all of the people."

He also concluded the speech by saying: "Thank you. I’m hoping the Academy invites me back. Thank you."
