British actress Una Stubbs, known most recently for her role on Sherlock has died at the age of 84, as reported by BBC News.
Stubbs became a star in the 1960s, having appeared in a number of movies including Sir Cliff Richard's Summer Holiday, and is a beloved icon in the British film industry.
Her agent revealed that she passed away at her home in Edinburgh surrounded by her loved ones. The actress had reportedly been ill for several months.
Stubbs' family has requested privacy in a statement, per Sky News.
Her agent Rebecca Blond, who worked with the actress for over two decades, paid tribute to her, saying:
"We are desperately sad to have lost not only a wonderful actress, whose screen and stage career, spanning over 50 years, was so extraordinarily varied, from Till Death Us Do Part to Sherlock, as well as memorable performances in the West End, at the Old Vic, Donmar Warehouse, Sheffield Crucible and National Theatre, but also a wickedly funny, elegant, stylish, graceful, gracious and kind and constant friend.
"She was also a highly respected and exhibited artist. We will miss her enormously and remember her always."

Some of Stubb's other well-known roles include Rita Rawlings in the sitcom Till Death Us Do Part, Aunt Sally in Worzel Gummidge, and Miss Bat in The Worst Witch.
She also had appearances in British soap EastEnders, The Catherine Tate Show, and sitcom Benidorm.
Fans and celebrities alike have taken to Twitter to share touching tributes to the TV legend, with fellow Eastenders star Bonnie Langford writing: "Such a loss. She made everything look so effortless.
"A consummate professional, kind, gracious, elegant, versatile, and fun. Her Aunt Sally was a masterclass alone. Condolences and love to those loved ones left behind "
Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss tweeted: "It was one of the great joys of my life to work so closely with and to adore Una Stubbs. She was a wonderful wonderful woman and a great and serenely graceful actor.
"Mischief was in her blood. We were so blessed that she became our imperishable Mrs. Hudson. Goodbye darling."
A fan lamented the loss of a true great, writing: "Oh no! Such a beautiful and brilliant actress that I’ve watched in all these programs over the years.
"But she was the most amazing Mrs. Hudson for Sherlock Holmes, and she will always be the only Mrs. Hudson for me, she made the character real! R.I.P. Wonderful lady."
Our thoughts are with Stubb's friends and family at this difficult time.
