Sony is offering videogame players free Playstation 4 games in an attempt to encourage the general public to stay at home during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The venture was announced on Playstation's official Twitter account on April 15. According to that tweet, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (which consists of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception) and Journey will be downloadable from the Playstation Store for free from April 17 until May 5, with both available to keep once they have been redeemed.
Take a look at this trailer for the remaster of Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2:Commenting on the initiative in a recent statement, Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan stated: "People all over the world are doing the right thing by staying home to help contain the spread of COVID–19 [...] we are asking our community to continue supporting the safe choice and the need to Play At Home."
He added: "Play At Home has two components: first, providing free games to help keep the PlayStation community entertained at home; and finally, establishing a fund to help smaller independent game studios who may be experiencing financial difficulties continue building great experiences for all gamers."
It seems as though there's never been a better time to be a videogamer. In fact, a company is now offering Call of Duty experts the chance to become paid coaches, earning up to $43 per hour by helping new players hone their skills in Warzone's new so-called 'Gulag' mode.
All you need is a photo ID, a working PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC, and a strong internet connection, and "a proven track record across Call of Duty: Warzone." So if you think you have what it takes to be a Call of Duty mentor, then send your resumé and cover letter over to [email protected].
