Taylor Swift has hit out at Netflix after the show Ginny and Georgia featured a "sexist" joke that slut-shamed the singer.
The new drama-comedy debuted on the popular streaming service back on February 24, and tells the story of free-spirited mom Georgia, who moves north with her two kids Ginny and Austin in the hopes of making a fresh start for their family.
However, one moment in the final episode of the first series irked Swifties around the world.

As Ginny and Georgia argue about relationships, the angsty daughter quips to her mom: "What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift."
The "joke" stems from the fact that the 31-year-old singer has hit headlines in the past as a result of her high-profile relationships with celebrities like John Mayer, Tom Hiddleston, and Joe Jonas.
Swift has been known to pen many of her songs based on her personal life experiences - including her relationships - and even referenced her perceived reputation in the song 'Shake It Off', in which she sings:
"I go on too many dates, but I can’t make them stay. At least that’s what people say."
After watching the show, Swifties took to social media to call out Netflix for the joke.
One person wrote: "Taylor has an entire section in her documentary about how this affected her, yet you choose to slut-shame her continually. This was never a joke, it's harassment. @netflix fix this. RESPECT TAYLOR SWIFT."
Another wrote: "You mean @netflix decided to slut-shame Taylor Swift with the same tired joke that’s been happening since 2012?"
A third typed: "Alright guys it’s time to cancel and make Netflix to remove the slut-shaming show Ginny and Georgia. Neflix shame on you. RESPECT TAYLOR SWIFT #respecttaylorswift".
One Twitter user even shared screenshots of multiple online review platforms, suggesting that Taylor Swift's fans have been deliberately rating Ginny and Georgia low in an effort to sabotage its success:
The show's tasteless joke even drew the attention of Swift herself, who took to Twitter to write to her 88.4 million followers:
"Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back. How about we stop degrading hard working women by defining this horse s**t as FuNnY.
"Also, @netflix after Miss Americana this outfit doesn’t look cute on you. Happy Women’s History Month I guess."
Miss Americana is a 2020 Netflix documentary that follows Swift as she provides viewers with a never-before-seen look at her life. In the documentary, Swift discusses her history with relationships and the detrimental impact negative press coverage has had on her life.
