Traci Braxton, sister of Toni and Tamar Braxton, has died aged 50

Traci Braxton has passed away at the age of 50, her family has revealed.

As reported by PEOPLE, Traci was one of the star's of WEtv's Braxton Family Values - along with her mom, Evelyn Braxton, and sisters Toni, Towanda, Trina, and Tamar. She was also part of the famous quintet The Braxtons, which helped launch the solo careers of her sisters Toni and Tamar.

The heartbreaking news of Traci's passing was shared by multiple family members on Saturday, March 12.

An Instagram post shared by mom Evelyn read: "It is with the utmost regret that we inform you of the passing of our dear sweet Traci. Needless to say, she was a bright light, a wonderful daughter, an amazing sister, a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and a respected performer. We will miss her dearly.

"Traci passed this morning as the snow was falling, our angel is now a snowflake.

"We ask that you respect our privacy as we plan to send her home with love, celebrating her life.

"We are family forever. Love, The Braxton Family."

Traci's husband, Kevin Surratt, also released a statement to TMZ, in which he revealed that the singer passed away following a private battle with Esophageal cancer.

He said: "We have come to a time where we must inform the public that after a year of privately undergoing a series of treatments for Esophageal cancer our beloved Traci Braxton has gone on to glory."

Traci was born on April 2, 1971, and along with her sisters, also grew up with her brother, Michael Conrad Braxton Jr.

As part of The Braxtons, Traci was known for the singles 'Good Life' and 'The Boss', as well as the family's 2015 Christmas album. As a solo article, Traci found success with her 2014 album, Crash & Burn, which featured the single 'Last Call'.

In 2011, she joined her mother and sisters on the hit reality show, Braxton Family Values - which ran for seven seasons and 148 episodes. She and Surratt also appeared on the reality show Marriage Boot Camp in 2013.

The couple also shared a son, Kevin Surratt Jr., who paid tribute to his late mother in a heartwrenching Instagram post on Saturday.

"When I heard the news about my mother being sick first thing she said was ‘I’m going to fight and beat this,’" he wrote. "She fought to the end and today she’s at peace. I love my mother forever and this hurts so much but I’m at peace knowing she’s isn’t in pain anymore. I love you ma I’m going to miss you."
