Wendy Williams has been slammed on social media for her "hateful" segment on the fatal shooting of TikTok star Swavy.
According to The New York Post, the 56-year-old talk show host provoked backlask when she hosted a segment talking about the death of Matima "Swavy" Miller - a TikTok star who was shot and killed in an incident on Monday, July 5.
Take a look at this footage from the episode in the video below:Per the above publication, on the so-called "Hot Topics" segment of her eponymous show, Williams discussed the 19-year-old viral dancer's killing by quipping:
"I have no idea who this person is … neither does one person in this building."
A number of outraged Twitter users have since taken to social media to react to the clip - accusing Williams of behaving disrespectfully towards the deceased teen and goading the audience into laughter before informing them that Miller had died.
For example, one person wrote: "wendy williams does not have a chance at seeing the gates of heaven man. [sic]"
A second person stated: "Wendy Williams needs to be stopped. Why haven't they cancelled her yet? How dare u make fun of a TikTok star #swavy, who is deceased. And your team is awful too. [sic]"
Then this user tweeted: "I have watched soooo many hours of Wendy Williams and for the life of me I can never predict when she does something like this. [sic]"
A podcaster commented: "wendy williams still the undisputed queen of the type of television they use in a horror/sci-fi movie to communicate that the world is a dystopian nightmare. [sic]"
This person added: "Wendy Williams show needs to be canceled fr [sic]"
Another Twitter user then shared a number of Williams' previous on-air social faux pas and captioned it: "Wendy Williams list of crimes.
"She should’ve been canceled. She is a [miserable] human being. Not a good person at all. There is a lot more online. These are the ones I can think of."
Finally, one Twitter user said: "The way Wendy Williams introduced that story about that TikTok star's passing was offensive. I swear she still thinks she is on the radio with the way she discusses the news. She has always had a very dark spirit."
The NYP reports that Swavy, also known as Babyface.S, was shot in the Southbridge neighborhood of Wilmington in the state of Delaware, at around 10:42AM.
A Wilmington Police Department report stated: "The victim in this incident has been identified as Matima Miller. This incident remains under investigation and further details will be released when possible."
