An Amazon driver who was fired after a video of a woman sneaking out of his van went viral has dropped a heavy hint about what they were doing.
In an interview with TMZ, delivery man Tywan George explained that that the woman is his "partner" and "close friend."
When asked specifically what he was doing in the back of the truck, he coyly revealed that he was "delivering packages" and "just doing his job".
"It was just a one-time incident, but I did what any other man in America would do," George told the outlet.
George and his friend were caught on camera by Dylan Hook, who spotted them in a residential Florida neighborhood in July 2019. Hook later revealed that he started recording after seeing the woman enter George's van out of his hotel window, wanting to capture what happened next.
Hook's recording shows George pushing the back door of his van open as a woman in a black dress and flip-flops sneaks out. She then walks casually away while George shuts the door.
Since being posted on TikTok on October 24 this year, the video has gone viral and amassed over 11 million views.
It also cost George his job with Amazon, who fired him for allowing unauthorized passengers to enter his delivery vehicle after the video emerged.
"The driver is no longer delivering packages to Amazon customers," an Amazon representative told TMZ.
George suspected that Amazon would fire him as soon as the video started going viral.
"I kind of knew it too once I’d seen the video going viral, once it got a million views on TikTok, I kind of knew it because I know Amazon are strict," he said. I felt like losing my job was the worse that they could do to me, there was no packages reported missing, nothing was reported stolen."
"It was just the incident went viral, that’s what cost my job."
The video has attracted over 26,000 comments on TikTok, with users trading puns and jokes.
"Package will be delivered in 9 months. Thank you" one wrote.
"He was just showing her his package" another echoed.
"So Amazon drivers are the new milkmen," a third joked.
