Officials have named the victims of the tragic school shooting in Oxford, Michigan, that took place on Tuesday, November 30.
The attack left four students dead and a further eight people injured. Oakland County Sheriff's Office has identified the students killed as Tate Myre, 16, Hana St. Juliana, 14, Madisyn Baldwin, 17, and Justin Shilling, 17.
Student Ethan Crumbley is the chief suspect in the attack. He was taken into custody minutes after police arrived at the school, and has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder among other crimes.
Myre was a linebacker and tight end who recently won honors on the Oxford football team, The New York Times reports. After sustaining critical injuries in the shooting he was rushed to hospital by Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard on Tuesday night.
Later that day, Bouchard announced in a press conference that Myre died in the patrol car "due to the severity of his wounds."
The Oxford football team paid tribute to their teammate in a Twitter post on Wednesday.
"It is with great grief that one of the victims of the tragic event at OHS today was one of our own, Tate Myre. Tate was on varsity since his freshman year and was an honor student," the team wrote alongside a photo of him on the pitch.
"Tate was a great young man with a bright future and beloved by all. You will be missed, Tate."
Over 119,000 people have signed a petition to change the name of Oxford High School's stadium to Tate Myre Stadium in his honor.
St. Juliana was also a rising sports star at Oxford High School. The 14-year-old played womens' basketball since she was in 6th grade, and was due to make her high school debut on Tuesday night.
In a touching tribute on Twitter, the team wrote: "We will never forget your kind heart, silly personality, and passion for the game. This season we play for you Hana."
Baldwin, 17, - who also passed away on Tuesday - was due to graduate high school this year and had already received multiple college acceptances. Her family described her as an artist who enjoyed drawing, reading, and writing, People reports.
Shilling passed away in hospital on Wednesday morning after being shot in the head and jaw. His death was announced by the Sherrif's office several hours later.
According to the Oxford High School website, the 17-year-old was co-captain of the school bowling team.
Of the eight other people injured, three remain in critical condition.
