A young child in Ukraine has tragically died after hanging herself in a freak amusement park accident, multiple sources have reported.

The four-year-old girl - who was later identified by name as Valeria - had been playing on an inflatable trampoline at a children's amusement park in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, on May 13 when she "became entangled" in the loops of the object.

Regional police chief, Serhii Shaikhet, said that Valeria had died as a result of suffocation.

The owner of the trampoline was subsequently detained as a result of the incident, per Fox News.

Ukrainian news outlet TSN detailed that Natalia Kuchynska - a woman who was set to become Valeria's godmother - alleged that three employees working at the park at the time were on their phones when the incident happened.

"There were three girls near the trampoline who were supposed to watch over the children. But instead they sat with their backs to the trampoline, looking at something on their phones," she said.

Kuchynska explained to the outlet that Valeria had been with her mother, Anya, who had been keeping a close eye on her daughter and was described as a very "attentive" mother.

However, Valeria had gone to jump in a "blind zone" that was a little out of sight. "I can't even imagine how all this could happen. We cannot come up with a version of how it all happened, why she got caught, and how she hung without reaching the trampoline itself with her legs," Kuchynska added.

She also said that when Valeria was eventually found, Anya apparently suspected she had simply fainted due to overheating. "They started giving her artificial respiration, heart massage, and splashing water. They say that the staff of the trampoline handed the girl into her mother's arms and ran away. There was no medical center on the territory either. Some man ran to the doctors - there was a dentist nearby," she said.

Doctors examined Valeria, shone a light into her eyes, and even tried to use ammonia to wake her up. Though, she was sadly pronounced dead once the ambulance arrived.

Most devastatingly, Valeria's father had passed recently in early May.
