After making her first television appearance on Dr. Phil, the girl who claims she believes she could be Madeleine McCann has answered some crucial questions about her identity.

Julia Wendell, 21 - who is also referred to as Julia Faustyna or Julia Wandelt in various media reports - has captured the curiosity of people from around the world after claiming to be the missing British girl.

The disappearance of Madeleine McCann is one that still remains unsolved after she vanished from her holiday apartment in Portugal on May 3, 2007, as her parents Kate and Gerry dined at a nearby restaurant.

There has been no trace of Madeleine since and the case has been subject to intense scrutiny for many years as the family seeks answers on the whereabouts of their daughter.

When Julia created social media accounts claiming to be Madeleine, she gained widespread interest after making some astonishing claims about her identity.

There were also questions as to whether she could be Livia Schepp, a Swiss girl who went missing at the age of six in 2011 along with her twin Alessia, and she underwent a DNA test to rule this out.

As the 21-year-old awaits the results of three separate forensic tests to determine her DNA sequence, she made her first television appearance on Dr. Phil where she answered some crucial questions.

Dr. Phil referenced Julia's appearance and noted that she shared similarities with Madeleine, such as a mark on her face and a speck on her eye, known as coloboma.

Julia then began recalling her earliest memories, which appear to align with the holiday in Portugal where young Madeleine went missing.

Watch Julia's appearance on the show below:

Speaking on the show, Julia recounted her memories: "It was the beach and water, like sea or ocean, and there were turtles and children."

She went on: "I remembered light-colored buildings, like white or very light colors, sunlight on these buildings."

As mentioned by Dr. Phil, these memories appear to be a recollection of the holiday when Madeleine was last seen alive - but Julia wasn't finished.

She opened up about being sexually abused by a man called Peter Ney.

"I believe that (Peter Ney) can be related to Martin Ney," Julia said. "Martin Ney was suspected in [the] Madeleine McCann case and Martin Ney is an international child trafficker, serial killer."

Dr. Fia Johansson, who is conducting the forensic tests that will further reveal Julia's DNA sequence also appeared to believe that Julia could be the missing British girl.

"After I spoke to Julia, I knew I had to fly to Poland. It was back in 2018 and 19 that I got involved in the Madeleine McCann case. I was involved as a psychic police. [...] I believe she is alive," she said.

Dr. Johansson went on: "I started to investigate Julia's body, to figure out if she has [Madeleine's] birthmarks. And for me, yes... she had.

"Julia's mom refused to do the DNA test and she refused to answer any calls, texts, or communication," she added. "At this moment, I kinda know the truth. But until I get an answer, it's hard to say 100% - but it's also hard to deny it 100%."

Julia explained that although her mother in Poland claims to be her biological mother, she hasn't offered Julia any proof such as a DNA test or childhood photos.

The episode of Dr. Phil aired on Monday and is available to watch on YouTube now.
