A grieving mother has recalled the last words her 24-year-old daughter told her before tragically dying in a car crash.
Kelly Cole, from Australia, was left devastated after finding out that her daughter, Jemmah Lorraine Cole-Crighton, was involved in a serious car accident along with a 27-year-old man in southern Queensland on Friday.
As per the Daily Mail, the 24-year-old was traveling in a 2009 Toyota Camry when it lost control and crashed into a tree on Warrego Highway near Toowoomba.
Despite her entire body being covered in burns, she managed to crawl from the wreckage and up onto a nearby hill before being airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries surrounded by her parents and siblings, the outlet reported.
Just a few days later, her heartbroken mother paid tribute to her late daughter. Speaking to the Gatton, Lockyer, and Brisbane Valley Star, Kelly described Jemmah as "bright, boisterous and bubbly" adding that she was trying to "turn her life around" before the accident.
Recalling one of the last conversations she had with her, Kelly said: "She would get into stolen cars, but she never stole one.
"She even told me last week, 'I love the thrill of being in the cars because people go fast in them... but I would never steal anything from anybody.'"
She admitted that while her daughter had her fair share of troubles, she was a kind person.
"Not a day went past where she didn't think of other people... even if you stabbed her in the back and did wrong by her... she would still go and help you," the grief-stricken mom said.
"She said 'I've got to pull my head in and start concentrating and doing the right thing, and wipe these d******** out of my life.'"
Though the incident is still being investigated, Kelly has rejected claims that Jemmah was behind the wheel at the time of the accident, stating that she was "trying to fix" her life.
"She was trying to better herself. She was trying to fix things in her life that she knew needed to be fixed," she told 7news.com.au. "She would have had a bright future. She was working on it and was determined to turn her life around."
Kelly also had a message for those who are still criticizing her daughter.
"They don’t know this girl. They don’t know who she is and what life she lived at all. And they need to stop being keyboard warriors and thinking they can post things that they have no idea about," she said.
"It’s disgusting. Some of the comments I have read, it’s just gut-wrenching. What if it was one of their family members or their children? Would they like it said to them?"
As per the Australian outlet, local authorities have alleged the car was stolen in Toowoomba on Tuesday, January 10.
So far, no charges have yet been administered as the investigation continues.
