A touching video showing the crew of a doomed submarine has emerged - leaving the world heartbroken.

The clip shows a group of men aboard a sunken Indonesian vessel singing together just weeks before the KRI Nanggala-402 went down and resulted in all 53 men losing their lives, BBC News has reported.

The sailors filmed themselves singing 'Sampai Jumpa', an Indonesian hit whose title means 'Goodbye'/'See You Later'.

A clip of the video can be seen in the report below:

The video was recorded by them as a farewell for the outgoing commander of the navy’s submarine corps, who left the role in early March, an Indonesian military spokesperson Djawara Whimbo told AFP.

The 53-strong crew can be seen gathered around one seaman who played the song on an acoustic guitar, as the others - including submarine commander Heri Oktavian - sang along to the poignant song.

Per BBC News, the sailors can be heard singing (translated): "Even though I’m not ready to be missing you, I’m not ready to live without you. I wish all the best for you."

The video was later shared to Instagram by the original singer of 'Sampai Jumpa', Erix Soekamtion:

The devastating video was released by Indonesian military chiefs as more parts from the submarine were retrieved. The exact date it was recorded is not know, BBC New reports.

Other items found included an anchor and fluorescent orange life jackets for emergencies, according to authorities.

The submarine tragically disappeared on April 21 while it was scheduled to do live torpedo training exercises off Bali.

Indonesian military chief Hadi Tjahjanto announced on April 25 it had found the vessel in pieces on the seafloor, about 2,600 feet below the surface.

Tjahjanto said there was no chance of finding any members of the crew alive.

Per The Sun, in a statement following the tragic discovery, he told reporters:

"With deep sadness, I can say that all 53 personnel onboard have passed.

"We received underwater pictures that are confirmed as the parts of the submarine, including its rear vertical rudder, anchors, outer pressure body, embossed dive rudder and other ship parts.

"With this authentic evidence, we can declare that KRI Nanggala 402 has sunk and all the crew members are dead."

The cause of the disappearance is still uncertain, however, it was previously declared by the navy that an electrical failure was to blame.

It was reported that it could have left the submarine unable to execute emergency procedures to resurface, but this has not yet been officially confirmed.
