Amid the chaos, numerous others sustained injuries and are currently being treated in hospitals across the city. The assailant, armed with a knife, rampaged through the bustling shopping center just after 3:00PM (local time), targeting victims across multiple floors.

The assailant's spree was brought to an end by a lone heroic police officer, who confronted and fatally shot the attacker.

As news of the tragedy flooded TV screens and social media, footage showing a man carrying two young children out of the shopping center - their eyes shielded by masks, presumably to protect them from witnessing the horrific aftermath - lay heavy on the hearts of viewers.

Per News.com.au, it is currently believed that the man is the father of the two young children.

Viewers recounted the father's quick thinking, with one social media user expressing admiration for his actions, stating: "That man covered their eyes so they wouldn’t see the horrors of what has just happened. That’s a bloody amazing father."

In the footage, the masked children cling tightly to their father as he guides them to safety outside the shopping center. The swift actions of the father elicited praise from online users, who commended his efforts to safeguard his children's well-being in the face of such distressing circumstances.

"That was so heartbreaking to watch. Praying for the safety of everyone," remarked one individual, echoing sentiments shared by others online.
