The husband of a pregnant woman who died while traveling to be with family for Christmas has also passed away from his injuries.
On Wednesday (December 20), it was reported that couple Chloe and Parker Stott were traveling on Highway 93 near Wickenburg, Maricopa County, Arizona, to visit family for the holidays. The pair were hoping to surprise their family with the joyful news of Chloe's pregnancy when tragedy struck.
Per KSLTV, the Arizona Department of Public Safety reported that a crash occurred at 8:18PM on southbound US 93, roughly 60 miles northwest of Phoenix, Arizona. The couple had reportedly collided with a white Volvo commercial truck tractor after failing to pass another vehicle in a legal passing zone.
Chloe and her unborn baby boy tragically lost their lives at the scene. Parker, critically injured, was airlifted to the Arizona Burn Center and underwent a series of surgeries, including a leg amputation.
Heartbreakingly, per the Daily Mail, Parker's family confirmed on the day before Christmas Eve that he had succumbed to his injuries on December 23. In a poignant tribute, they described his indomitable spirit, saying: "He's the strongest person and has fought so hard. At 6.47PM, Parker grew his angel wings to fly him to Heaven to be with his sweet love Chloe and their baby."
Parker's family had been sharing updates on his condition - detailing his surgeries and the challenges he faced.
In a heartbreaking moment, Parker's family gathered around him as he passed away. They wrote on social media: "Early this morning, Parker went in for his third surgery to do some clean up on his burns, as well as start on some skin grafting for his leg,' a social media account run by his family said.
"At the completion of the surgery, the surgeons delivered the news that Parker's injuries were even more extensive than what we were already aware of and the outlook was extremely bleak.
"A few hours later, we received the update that Parker's vitals were dropping and he was going fast. We [gathered] around him as a family, kissed him, hugged him, held his hand, told him just how much we loved him and how proud we were of him."
A GoFundMe campaign launched to support the couple's family during this challenging time has garnered over $196,000 in donations.
The money raised will be used to cover medical bills and funeral services, per the description, as well as provide financial support for loved ones.
On the day of the crash, Chloe had taken to Instagram to share a loving photo of her and her husband, with the caption: “You n Me forever Parker.”
The driver of the Volvo commercial truck was hospitalized as a precautionary measure. The accident left a community in shock and mourning for the loss of Chloe, Parker, and their unborn child.
