The family of one of the three Kansas City Chiefs fans found "frozen to death" has claimed that they could have been drugged and left for dead.

On January 7, David Harrington, 37, Ricky Johnson, 38, and Clayton McGeeney, 36, gathered at a friend named Jordan Willis's residence to watch their favorite football team play their last game of the regular season.

But in a shocking turn of events, the men's bodies were discovered two days later at the NW 83rd Terrace home, after a fiancée of one of the victims requested a welfare check.

One body was found on the back porch of the home, with the other two discovered in the backyard, having succumbed to the extreme cold, as reported by Fox News Digital.

According to The Independent, the owner of the home where the men were found went to bed and did not know that his friends had passed away until cops showed up on January 9 and eventually discovered their bodies.

Willis's attorney, John Picerno, alleged that the men seemingly died by hypothermia - although a cause and manner of death have not been confirmed pending an autopsy. The low temperature on game day was 29 degrees and remained below freezing over the next two days, per USA Today.

He also claimed in a statement that his client "had absolutely nothing to do with their deaths," adding: "He does not know the timing or manner of their deaths, nor does he know how or when they exited his house. He had no knowledge that they remained in his back yard, or that they needed medical attention."

However, Ricky Johnson's father, Ricki Johnson Sr., spoke out about his loss to Fox News Digital, telling them that his son was not "irresponsible" to go outside without a coat to freeze to death along with his friends.

He then made a damning allegation about Willis, a respected HIV data scientist, of foul play, accusing him of drugging and intentionally exposing the three men to the extreme weather.

"I believe he drugged them, dragged them outside, and waited two days to call police," the bereaved father claimed. "He may have done some drugs and stuff in the past, but I do not believe all three of them did drugs and fell over dead in that backyard.

"I’m not going to say that during a game he didn’t have some drinks...You’re talking about three grown men. If he was out there just freezing like they said, he could've kicked out a window to get into the house," he added.

Ricky's mother, Norma Chester, chimed in with a similar theory, sharing: "Seriously, these were responsible men. How do they go in a backyard and freeze to death, all three of them?

"Something that comes to my mind, this guy [Willis] wants to brag about how smart he is, he’s a scientist," she continued. "My thoughts are that he concocted something and gave it to all three men.

"How could this have happened?" she added while conceding it was just her "thinking" rather than based on specific evidence.

Regardless of the speculation, Willis has not been charged with any crime or accused of any wrongdoing as Captain Jake Becchina of the Kansas City Police Department emphasized that the case is "100% NOT being investigated as a homicide".

"There have not been any arrests [or] charges, and no one is in custody. There are no specific threats or concerns for the surrounding community at this time," Becchina added. "The resident at the house was cooperative with detectives the day the deceased were discovered."
