A man has died just two weeks after his fiancée lost her life after the pair were fatally injured in a fire at their home.
The fire broke out in the early hours of the morning on December 12 at the home in Daresbury, UK. As reported by Cheshire Live, firefighters found the house "well alight on the ground floor."
Kieran Naylor, 33, and his fiancée Rebecca Foster, 32, were rescued from the burning building and taken to the hospital but were described as being in a "critical condition."
A spokesperson for Cheshire Constabulary said at the time: "Two people were rescued from the address, a man and a woman, and passed to the care of paramedics. One of the casualties was taken to Whiston Hospital and the second was taken to Warrington Hospital, they are both currently in a critical condition."
"Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are fighting the fire with four hose reel jets. The fire also involves the roof of the property. The road has been closed by Cheshire Police while the incident is being dealt with," the statement released at 3:00 AM on December 12 continued.
Per the BBC, Foster passed away the day after the incident and Naylor died two weeks later on December 26 as a result of the fire.
As cited by the BBC, Naylor's family have said they are "completely heartbroken and devastated" by the loss of their son and future daughter-in-law.
"Kieran really was the best son, brother, and uncle that anyone could have wished for and he will be sorely missed by everyone who had the pleasure to have known him," his family said.
"Kieran and Rebecca are now reunited forever and they will always be in our hearts."
Foster's parents described the couple as "perfect" together and stated that they knew they would spend the rest of their lives together. "They will never be able to fulfill their dreams," they heartbreakingly added.
The family ended their heartfelt tributes by thanking the fire department and medical staff for everything that they did to save the lives of their loved ones, and they also asked for privacy at this time.
Investigations are ongoing but the fire is believed to have been accidental, according to police.
Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragedy.
