A man has died after a freak accident at a pool party.
Israeli man Klil Kimhi was attending a pool party last Thursday (July 21) when he was sucked into a sinkhole under the water.
According to a report by The Times of Israel, the 32-year-old disappeared into the hole, which suddenly formed at the bottom of the pool while he was swimming.
Several hours later, he was found dead at the end of a 49-foot tunnel.
A paramedic responding to the incident told the Jerusalem Post that Kimhi had fallen victim to a "unusual" accident.
"This is a very unusual incident," they said, adding: "When I got to the scene, I saw a pit that had opened at the bottom of the empty pool. People who were at the site told me that the pit opened suddenly and within a few seconds all the water of the pool was pulled in."
Meanwhile, in a video post to Facebook an Israel Fire and Rescue Authority described how the incident occurred at a marketing event hosted in a Karmi Yosef villa, about 25 miles southeast of Tel Aviv.
"Behind us is a pool where a pool party had just taken place, [attended by] about 50 people, a marketing event," they said, per a translation.
"A sinkhole suddenly appeared, and all the pool's water was sucked down into it, along with some party guests," the emergency responder continued.
"There is a high alert for a man sucked into the sinkhole with the water," they added. "[He's] around 30 years old and was likely sucked into underground tunnels below the house along with the pool's water."
After four hours of searching, emergency responders reached Kimhi, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The exact reason for the sinkhole opening up is unconfirmed, however, reports have arisen that the homeowner built the swimming pool without adequate planning permission at the site.
Per BBC News, the property owners - a couple in their 60s - have since been arrested on suspicion of causing "death by negligence."
