A man who has transformed into a dog using an ultra-realistic costume has now started locking himself in a cage at night.

As we have previously reported, Toco from Japan spent two million Yen ($15,000) on a custom-made collie costume so that he can achieve his lifelong dream of becoming an animal.

The man has a YouTube channel - which goes by the handle @I_want_to_be_an_animal - where he shares daily videos of himself living out his canine lifestyle such as learning how to eat, walk, play, and perform tricks.

Toco has now taken his furry obsession further by posting a new video titled - Realistic dog costume When I became a dog, I got locked in a cage! - and this time it shows him crawling into a huge dog cage.

Watch his video below:

The faux dog appears to really struggle to fit into the cage - which is obviously not made for human-sized animals - but eventually, he puts himself in it and the person recording the video then shuts the doors.

Toco then starts pawing at the door, before the lights in the room are turned off so that he can go to sleep. It then cuts to the person recording opening the door and unlocking the cage so that he can come out.

The footage also shows him playing around with the individual behind the camera who is rubbing his stomach, and then it cuts to them putting a harness on Toco so that he can walk around the house in true dog fashion.

The comments section of the video - which has amassed 6.6K views - was full of appreciation from people expressing their support for the YouTuber.

One user wrote: "Love this so much. I find myself thinking he looks uncomfortable in that position. Does he enjoy being a pup so much that it overrides the discomfort. I hope the people he love’s respect his need to do this."

Another said: "It's really cool that someone is actually roleplaying as a dog, it's cool that someone is actually in the dog costume, and they really do act like a dog. It's really cool."

A third user commented: "I got sad when you were put in the crate, but then I saw you got tummy rubs and a walk so everything is okay!! Love you Toco! Keep living your dreams!"

A fourth person shared: "Toco, you are such a cute border collie and I'm proud to support you! I hope you have an amazing day!"

Toco previously disclosed to The Mirror the reason why he's chosen this particular path in life, saying: "Since childhood, I have had this unspecific fantasy of becoming an animal," adding, "I wonder whether it was a desire for transformation."

In terms of picking a breed, he wanted to be a collie because that is his "favorite". He bought the lifelike costume from Zeppet - a Japanese agency that makes sculptures and models for films.

"I thought a big animal close to my size would be good considering that it would be a realistic model, so I decided to make it a dog," he told MailOnline. "There are restrictions, but you can move in it. However, if you move too much, it will not look like a dog."

Although Toco hasn't met anyone else that dresses up like a dog, he hopes "people like me who want to become animals can make that dream come true".
