The search for a missing six-year-old boy who has special needs has developed into a search for his body, police have stated.

Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez from Texas was declared missing in late March and there has been no sign of him since, with some fearing that he had been sold, or is deceased.

The six-year-old was last seen in November shortly after the birth of his twin sisters, as reported by the New York Post.

Authorities conducted a wellness check on March 20, but Noel's mother told police that he was with his biological father in Mexico.

Everman Police Chief CW Spencer said via a press conference: "Noel was described as appearing unhealthy and malnourished. Leading up to the birth of the twins, [his mom] had made several statements about Noel referring to him as evil, possessed or having a demon in him. [She] believed that Noel was going to harm the newborn twins."

As per the Independent, police conducted searches of the family members including the brother of Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, the boy's mother.

According to the man, he believes that his sister sold the child to a woman at Fiesta Mart, but urged officers not to contact the woman as he didn't want his Rodriguez-Singh to be reported to child protective services.

Police have stated that there is no evidence that Noel, who is said to be severely disabled, was sold - while adding that this information could have been used to mislead investigators.

Relatives have noted that Noel's mother was physically abusive toward him, and she would strike him when he attempted to drink water as she didn't want him to urinate. This, in turn, caused the six-year-old to become malnourished, as reported by the Daily Mail.

As per Fox4, Chief Spencer has now revealed that the search for the six-year-old has developed into a body recovery search.

"I understand this is not the news we were all hoping for and praying for," Chief Spencer said. "We must continue to stand together as a community and fight for Noel."

Rodriguez-Singh fled to Turkey and then on to India with her new husband and six children when police began investigating her son's disappearance, with officials believing them to still be there.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of both adults under the charges of abandoning and endangering a child, with hopes that the pair can be extradited.

Police searched the residence where the family was living in Texas, including digging up a new concrete porch, but it was to no avail.

Everman Police have asked anybody with information to come forward as they continue the search for Noel.

There is to be a candlelit vigil tomorrow (April 10) at the Everman Civic Center at 8:30 PM for the missing child.
