Netflix star Jung Chae-Yul dies aged 26

It has been announced that Netflix star Jung Chae-Yul has died aged 26.

As per Star News, the South Korean actress, best known for her work in Zombie Detective and I Have Not Done My Best, was found dead in her home on Tuesday (April 11).

A statement released by her agency Management S, who also spoke to the Korean press earlier today, stated that the family wish for privacy during this difficult period.

"We have to deliver very heartbreaking and unfortunate news. Actress Chae-Yul left us on April 11th," it read, as reported by MK News and later translated by Koreaboo. "According to the wishes of the bereaved family, who are in greater sorrow than anyone else, the funeral will be held quietly and privately."

The agency also advised that people should "refrain from spreading rumors and speculative reports" about her cause of death.

A cause is yet to be announced.

The CEO of Chae-Yul’s management agency was interviewed on OSEN in the wake of the actress' death.

"Our Chae-Yul was very hardworking," he said tearfully. "She was a deep-hearted and cool friend. In my opinion, it is hard to describe in words how amazing she was as an actress."

Other tributes from heartbroken fans have also been posted to Twitter as well as Instagram under the actress' most recent photos.

"Rest in peace, angel," wrote one user while another added: "Such a heartbreaking news, may she rest in peace."

Comments across the account have since been limited.

The 26-year-old was known for her role as Bae Yoon-Mi on Netflix's comedy TV series, Zombie Detective. Prior to that stint, she also starred in the K-drama I Have Not Done My Best as well as the movie Deep, which was released back in 2018.

As per the Independent, the actress was also set to appear in the TV series Wedding Impossible, which she was in the middle of filming.

The creators have now halted production in light of the unfortunate news.
