The police do an invaluable job serving and protecting our communities, and now one Nevada neighborhood has lit itself up blue in a show of support for local officers.
Posting a picture of the event on Facebook, the Mesquite NV Police wrote: "They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but there aren't enough words to explain what this picture means to us."

The picture features the neighborhood lit up in blue thanks to colored electric porch bulbs, and the display is all the more fantastic as it is against a starry sky.
The police department continued on Facebook: "An entire neighborhood in Mesquite changed their front porch lights blue to show their support for law enforcement. This is just another reminder of how lucky we are to work in this community and we are grateful for such amazing support."

Bobbi Kuspa, a resident in the neighborhood, said that she was the second person to change her lights to blue in support of the police.
In an interview with Fox News, Kuspa said: "We like to support our police, and we had done this one other time.
"We have a neighbor that lost her son in the line of duty. While those light bulbs burned out, well then when my neighbor got the blue, it was time to start all over again for our police doing their great job here in Mesquite."
She told the news outlet that in addition to her home, a further 40 others have changed to blue in support of the police.
Local MPD Sargent Wyatt Oliver told Fox News just how much the residents' gesture meant to him and his fellow officers.
"This is so important to us. You look at the picture and you can tell it's a very powerful image," he said. "And then to actually drive through there at night, it's even more - it brings out a lot of emotions, especially with everything going on in the country right now. It means so much to us that our community has come together to express this show of support for us."
