New details have emerged following the death of a Georgia mom, whose body was found naked and burned at the bottom of a ravine on September 11.
According to a neighbor, "screaming and fighting" was allegedly overheard at the home of 59-year-old Debbie Collier the night before she went missing.
"There was commotion at the house," a neighbor in Athens, Georgia, told The New York Post. They went on to explain that there was often "screaming and shouting" coming from the property, particularly when a younger woman - who frequently visited on the weekends and in the evenings - was there.
"Somebody comes up to visit on the weekends [and] in the evenings, and there’s loud screaming and fighting," the neighbor claimed.
Collier's husband, Steve Collier, and her daughter, Amanda Bearden, have reportedly told authorities that they last heard from her on Saturday, September 10 - the day before her body was discovered about an hour's drive from her home and not far from her abandoned rental car, per People.
Steve Collier claims he last saw his wife at 9:00PM on Saturday. Per the Daily Mail, he didn't see her later that night or in the morning before he left for work because they slept in separate bedrooms on account of his snoring.
Meanwhile, daughter Amanda says she last heard from her mom when she sent her a $2,385 Venmo payment and a worrying message reading: "They are not going to let me go, love you there is a key to the house in the blue flower pot by the door."
The grieving daughter has since told CBS 46: "Somebody took my whole world from me," adding: "She was a beautiful, kind, giving woman — and she didn’t deserve any of this…I want justice for my mom."
Police have declared Collier's death a homicide, but are yet to name any suspects in the case.
Law enforcement discovered Collier’s body after the rental car Collier was driving alerted them to its location. It was found approximately 60 miles north of her home in Athens.
Authorities arrived on the scene and began searching the woods by the highway after finding Collier's car unlocked, and parked off the side of the road.
The deployed K-9 search-and-rescue unit then discovered a small tote bag, a "partially-burned tarp," and what seemed to be the remains of a fire at the scene.
According to an incident report obtained by the Metro, Collier’s body was then found in a ravine near the tarp, to which the investigation disclosed that they "observed a nude female laying on her back, grasping a small tree with her right hand".
The Post has since reported that authorities have executed search warrants and interviewed relevant people.
Per The New York Post, another resident in the Colliers' Athens neighborhood described the couple as reclusive people.
"When we would get together out here on the block for a cookout, they never participated," the neighbor said, adding he didn't even know their names and that: "They didn’t come to no get-togethers."
Another local cryptically commented on the disappearance, saying: "There’s a reason we are keeping quiet."
