Social media users have been blown away after watching a 17-month-old baby playing the piano - going so far as to claim his talent is proof of reincarnation.

Gavriil Scherbenko, from Russia, was born in September 2021 but is already making waves with his musical talent.

The tot's family runs an Instagram account showcasing him playing the piano, which has racked up over 61,000 followers, and sees him expertly finding chords and melodies at less than a year and a half old.

One clip was shared by the account @pianoworldwide, which showed Gavriil playing a beautiful series of notes on the piano, despite his tiny hands barely being able to stretch across the keys.

Gavriil's tunes are his own compositions rather than playing well-known melodies, but the baby's ability to mimic the chords and hand positions, as well as his feeling for the music left viewers stunned.

While most babies would slam their hands down on the keys and make a cacophony of noise, Gavriil managed to play extremely tunefully and create a beautiful melody using both hands on different parts of the keyboard.

Fans were floored by the maturity of the sounds the baby was able to create on the instrument, and some even believed it to be proof of reincarnation.

One wrote: "Past life memory," while another added: "The ones who doubted reincarnation... Watch this."

Another added: "Thank you. When I hear the music from a baby, I think that God is doing something."

"Imagine BORN already remembering from past life how to play piano?," one viewer commented.

While some were less inclined to believe in reincarnation, they also commended his phenomenal ability to put sounds together in such a flawless way.

One wrote: "That’s amazing! I’ve seen kids play piano before, exploring sounds. But never with this type of harmony and chords. I hope the passion to play and have fun making melodies continues for this cute little one!"

Another added: "At 1.5 just the positioning and coordination of his hands is developmentally way beyond his age. Forget the pitch.. though that also."

Others commented: "He can play for real actually, there is sense in what he does, Melody and accompagniement, it's insane," and "This boy is absolutely extraordinary!!! He is a born musician!! And he is obviously very intelligent. He is absolutely immersed in trying out different chords. So much attention in such a tiny one!! Such a beautiful video! Thanks!!"

Some also believed the baby had to have been born with perfect pitch to instinctually know which notes worked so well with each other.

One thing's for certain - if Gavriil keeps practicing as he grows up, he's sure to have a very successful musical career ahead of him in the future.
