Police have issued a warning about coronavirus testing scams on doorsteps.
In the UK, a number of criminals have pretended to be carrying out door to door testing for COVID-19 in a bid to scam vulnerable people out of their money.
In the current climate, people can only be tested if they are showing symptoms for a long enough time to merit medical attention, which in the UK, they are recommended to obtain by calling 111. Anyone who turns up to a GP or emergency room unannounced risks passing on the virus to other people.
This man shares his symptoms of coronavirus:Sergeant Pete Jelbert of Leicestershire Police issued the warning on Twitter, writing: "Those claiming they can carry out tests on your doorstep are lying. Do not let them into your house and don't pay them."
After issuing the statement, Leicestershire Police confirmed that while they had had no confirmed cases of the scam taking place, they were aware of it happening in other parts of the country.
Per the Daily Mail, the spokeswoman said: "It has not happened in Leicestershire as far as we know, but there has been a number of incidents nationally.
"We have issued the warning because there will always be people who are ready to scam people during difficult times."

Camden Police warned today: "We have recently received a small number of reports of individuals offering to go shopping for the elderly within our community as a means to then keep their money.
"As ever, please ensure you or those more vulnerable in your circles treat such invitations with caution."
