Officials have provided an update on the deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs fans who were found frozen outside of their friend's home.

As previously reported, David Harrington, 37, Ricky Johnson, 38, and Clayton McGeeney, 36, were discovered dead on January 9 in the aftermath of a social gathering to watch the Chiefs' final game of the regular season.

The grim discovery has not only left the families of the deceased in mourning but has also taken its toll on Jordan Willis, the man whose house the men were discovered at.

Willis, a 37-year-old HIV data scientist, is grappling with accusations that have left him "devastated and depressed," according to sources close to him.

Willis claimed to have slept for nearly 48 hours after the game, remaining unaware of the bodies until the police conducted a welfare check at the insistence of one of the men's partners.

His attorney, John Picerno, vehemently asserted Willis's innocence, stating: "He does not know the timing or manner of their deaths, nor does he know how or when they exited his house."

With widespread speculation around the case, the Kansas City Police Department has provided an update where they have reiterated that there are no signs of foul play.

Alayna Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department, stated: "This still remains a death investigation and nothing more. We still have no evidence or indication of foul play, no one is in police custody," per AP.

As the investigation into the deaths continues, the medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The police have made it clear that no arrests or charges have been made in connection with the case.

While the families of the victims question Willis's narrative, suggesting a possible connection between the deaths and his career as an HIV research scientist, a source close to the Willis family vehemently rejected such speculations, calling the "mad scientist agenda" absurd and stressing that Willis's profession is irrelevant to the case, per Fox News Digital.

Harrington's grieving parents expressed their suspicions, with Jon Harrington stating: "[His mother] and I are both convinced that Jordan Willis played a part in this somehow. We just haven’t figured out how yet... What else could it be? Perfectly healthy men don’t just drop off the face of the Earth."

Despite these suspicions, the source close to the Willis family emphasized that Willis had known the deceased men since high school and had returned to Kansas City to reconnect with old friends after a decade away for graduate and post-doctorate work.

Addressing questions about Willis spending two days without his pet dog noticing the bodies, the source explained that Willis' therapy dog was not at the house during that time, as it serves his father, who is battling Alzheimer's disease.

Willis, who recently relocated due to media coverage and threats, is cooperating with the police and faces unwarranted public vitriol, according to the source.
