President Trump has reportedly cut short his interview for 60 Minutes that is currently set to air on Sunday - and subsequently blasted host Lesley Stahl on Twitter.

News outlets such as the New York Times and CBS News have reported that the POTUS "cut off an interview" with Stahl on Tuesday (October 20).

However, the president's campaign manager has denied the claims, and Trump himself has blasted the interview as "fake" and "biased", and even threatened to release it early on the social media platform.

Trump, 74, tweeted:

"I am pleased to inform you that, for the sake of accuracy in reporting, I am considering posting my interview with Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes, PRIOR TO AIRTIME!

"This will be done so that everybody can get a glimpse of what a FAKE and BIASED interview is all about.

"Everyone should compare this terrible Electoral Intrusion with the recent interviews of Sleepy Joe Biden! [sic]"

According to 60 Minutes, the White House had agreed to record the interview for its archives, citing its long history of interviewing presidential candidates prior to elections and asking them pressing questions.

In another tweet, the president pointed out that Stahl was maskless in the White House.

"Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes not wearing a mask in the White House after her interview with me. Much more to come," the president tweeted, alongside a video clip of Stahl without a mask.

CBS News has since reported on their website that the reporter was wearing a mask on entry to the White House, and she only removed it once she was at a social distance and shortly before the interview began.

The news outlet explained that the clip tweeted by the president was filmed shortly after the interview ended and features Stahl talking to her producers - all of whom had tested negative for Covid-19 on Tuesday.

Jason Miller, Trump's campaign manager, took to Twitter to disrepute claims that the interview had ended early.

"Very fake news! No drama, interview [sic] was not ended abruptly, and we have the receipts from the interview - all of them! Maybe we need to put the whole thing out so people can see for themselves?" Miller tweeted.

Stahl previously interviewed Trump for his first television interview as president-elect in 2016 and again in 2018.

Norah O'Donnell of 60 Minutes has interviewed Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris ahead of the upcoming election, and their appearance on the program will also be airing this Sunday.
