Rapper PnB Rock has been fatally shot during a robbery at the Los Angeles branch of Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles.

According to Los Angeles police captain Kelly Muniz, on Monday (12 September) afternoon a shooting occurred at the restaurant on Main Street and Manchester Ave.

The 30-year-old Philadelphia rapper - whose real name is Rakim Allen - was at the restaurant with his girlfriend, who posted a since-deleted Instagram photo with the location tag.

As reported by the Los Angeles Times, Police Chief Michel Moore said on Tuesday (September 13) that the rapper was "brutally attacked" by an individual "who apparently, or we believe" came to the location after Rock's girlfriend's social media post.

The police chief said the 'Gang Up' rapper was "enjoying a simple meal" with his partner when the attacker entered the location, Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles in South Los Angeles, to confront the musician.

Law enforcement said that the suspect approached their table and demanded they hand over their jewelry and valuables. The verbal exchange ended when the robber opened fire, fatally wounding Rock with multiple bullets.

Afterward, the unidentified killer stole the rapper's personal items before fleeing through a side door. The victim was then taken to the hospital and pronounced dead 45 minutes later.

The Philadelphia-born rapper's 2015 single 'Fleek' went viral on social media. A year later, he rose to fame with his 2016 hit 'Selfish' which peaked at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Rock's career earned him guest appearances on multiple other artists' songs, such as Ed Sheeran's 'Cross Me' which also featured Chance the Rapper, and XXXTentacion and Trippie Redd's 'Bad Vibes Forever'.

The rapper released two albums 'Catch These Vibes' in 2017 and 'Trapstar Turnt Popstar' in 2019, alongside multiple mixtapes. His most recent song titled 'Luv Me Again' was released earlier this month.

Following news of his death, Rock's record label, Atlantic Records, shared a tribute on their Instagram, describing his death as a "senseless loss".

"PnB Rock was more than an artist. To many, Rakim Allen was a great friend. He was also a wonderful father to two beautiful little girls," they wrote.

"This news is heavy on our hearts and we are all hurting over this senseless loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time," the label added.

The 'Selfish' rapper is survived by two children, including a two-year-old daughter.

Our thoughts are with Rock's family, friends, and family at this time.
