A US school has sparked fury after hosting a bizarre licking game between staff and students.
The Desert Hills Middle School in Kennewick, Washington State, held a game that saw minor students (aged 11 to 13) and adult teachers licking marshmallow cream off either side of two clear plexiglass panes at the same time during a school pep rally in March per, Fox News.
The activity was filmed by appalled students and in the crowd some could be heard commenting on the weird game, saying "ew", "disgusting", and "that's so gross". The video was later posted to Facebook by a disgusted mother.
"[...] I don't care what fundraiser this was for. You could've done ANYTHING besides this. There should be zero reason for teachers/adults to be interacting with students/children like this. I saw one comment that it was the students' idea," the mother wrote on Facebook. "Guess what? The ADULTS could've and should've said no! That's what good, healthy, responsible grownups do! Even the KIDS in the bleachers knew this was wrong!"
Someone else added: "This is just wrong in so many ways. Adult one side child other side... very disturbing."

A further comment read: "This took a decent amount of premeditating. 'Mark, we need a table for the window to sit on. Jay can build the custom window frame in wood shop. Sharon, we need just the right consistency of 'white stuff.' It can't be too drippy, it's gotta be sticky. And we need to make sure it's shot at the glass just right. Now, which adults are gonna lick which students?'"
It continued: "The public school system must crumble and be rebuilt by people with strong morals. These people are sick. This is not education."

The district's superintendent, Dr. Traci Pierce, issued a statement to the school's families on Friday last week, weeks after the initial event occurred. "During the activity, some students felt very uncomfortable, and the activity was highly disturbing for some students, parents, families, and community members to watch on video. This activity does not have district approval and will never be repeated in the future," she said.
What do you think of the incident? Is the criticism necessary or are the parents overreacting? Let us know in the comments.
