Horrifying footage has emerged on social media showing a man armed with a machete, trying to force his way into a car while the driver and passenger are stuck in traffic.

TikTok user Ash Massacre, who goes by the handle @ash_massacre, filmed herself sitting next to her husband in the passenger seat of a car at Deception Bay in Queensland on October 24.

The video, which was also reposted by user brisbaneincidentalerts on TikTok, shows a man holding a large machete, approaching the couple's car and tapping on the back seat window with the weapon as he attempts to intimidate them into letting him inside the vehicle.

He has a disturbing grin on his face during the frightening ordeal as he attempts to open the door, and then eventually gives up and walks away with the weapon still in his hand.

In a follow-up video, Ash spoke about the alarming situation and revealed that she was unable to drive off during the incident as they were surrounded by other vehicles at the red light.

"It was absolutely terrifying. I didn’t know what to do. I was stuck in shock. We had stopped at the lights and basically, I could see some dude walking through it and I was like 'What’s he doing?'" she explained.

"And my husband‘s like, 'Oh, he’s walking around with a machete' and he was, like, swinging it around. So I started recording because I thought it’s weird and my sisters would never believe that," she continued.

"It was absolutely terrifying," Ash said. "I didn't know what to do. I was stuck in shock. We couldn't go anywhere because there was a car beside us, a car in front of us, and one behind us."

"He tapped on the window with his machete and was like, 'Please let me in'. He was very polite and I was stunned. His smile was actually terrifying. It's haunted every one of my dreams and it was a bad experience," she added.

The woman also said that she "never expected him to come to the car" and "never in a million years" did she think that the man would try and get in.

According to Daily Mail, law enforcement was called to the scene and a 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with the terrifying ordeal. He has since been charged with threatening violence, unlawful entry of motor vehicles, and obstructing police.

Queensland Police say he is due to appear in court in December.
