A woman has been left paralyzed following a robbery in which her attacker made off with $4,300 - and reports claim that she could spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.

Nhung Truong was assaulted in Texas on February 13 after she withdrew a large sum of money from the bank.

The 44-year-old victim was followed for 24 miles from the bank to a shopping center where she was approached by the suspect who demanded that she hand over her belongings, per Houston Police.

The police statement read: "The complainant dropped her possessions on the ground, so the suspect grabbed what he thought was the envelope and began to run away, when he realized that he had the wrong envelope.

"The suspect then ran back to the complainant, picked her up, and body-slammed her onto the ground. The suspect grabbed the envelope containing the cash and then fled the location."

As per Fox, the family stated that around $4,300 was stolen but Truong was left with a damaged spinal cord following the attack and has lost the use of her left leg.

As cited by KHOU, the 44-year-old said via her daughter: "They don’t know when my leg can walk again."

"It’s not a big loss of the money," her daughter added, "the big loss is her leg."

As reported by the New York Post, Truong is a single mother of three who moved to the US from Vietnam. She sadly lost her husband to liver cancer seven years ago.

"I can still go to school, but my mind is just messed up thinking about her, worrying that nobody is going to watch out for her," Truong's son told Fox.

Her daughter added: "It’s been really bad. We have to pay rent and stuff and she’s the only one that can work and help us. We don’t know what to do."

A GoFundMe page was set up in order to help Truong pay her medical bills, as well as ensure her family is supported financially following the attack.

The fundraising page reads: "She [Truong] is currently unable to walk and requires round-the-clock care. As you can imagine, this has been an incredibly challenging time for both my mom and our family. Not only are we dealing with the emotional trauma of what happened, but we are also struggling with the financial burdens of her ongoing care."

An update read that Truong has been informed that her recovery time has been extended to over two years, and she remains in the hospital receiving care for her injuries.

At the time of writing, the page has received over $190,000 in donations from over 4000 donors.

No arrest has currently been made, and police are asking anybody with information on the suspect to come forward.
