President Trump has described the act of wearing a facemask during the coronavirus pandemic as "patriotic".
The president recently changed his stance on wearing facemasks by donning one in public at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland earlier this month.
"I've never been against masks but I do believe they have a time and a place," he said as he left the White House, the BBC reported.
Posting a photograph of himself wearing a mask on July 20, Trump wrote: "We are United in our effort to defeat the Invisible China Virus, and many people say that it is Patriotic to wear a face mask when you can't socially distance. There is nobody more Patriotic than me, your favorite President!"
Per the Guardian, it is believed that the picture posted by the president was likely taken at the Walter Reed military hospital, which he visited around 10 days ago.
The news outlet added that Trump's decision to wear a mask came after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been advising people to wear face masks for three months.
However, despite the Trump tweeting to say that wearing a mask is a patriotic act, shortly afterward he was filmed mingling without one at a congressional candidate's fundraiser in Washington.
Watch Trump mingling without a mask below:As the video demonstrates, the president does not appear to be carrying a mask as he appears at the fundraiser for Madison Cawthorn, a congressional candidate in North Carolina who beat Trump-backed contender in his recent primary.
In the video above, the president can be seen greeting a number of high-profile guests, including South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham - also unmasked - and the president’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani, who was heard saying to the president at the event, "You can touch me."
This comes after Trump said that face masks "are good" and make him look like the Lone Ranger.
