Trump fans play Bruce Springsteen’s 'Born in the USA' outside hospital without realizing what lyrics mean

Trump supporters have been playing Bruce Springsteen's 'Born in the USA' outside the hospital where he is being treated for Covid-19 without realizing what its lyrics mean.

The Republican group of well-wishers also played Lee Greenwood's song 'Proud to be American' outside the Walter Reed Medical Centre.

However, it was their choice of 'Born in the USA' which was mocked by commentators online, who pointed out that it is not the patriotic power ballad that they believed it to be.

Springsteen's hit ballad is believed to be a critical song about the treatment of working-class soldiers when they return to the USA.

The error was further worsened by the fact that Walter Reed is a military hospital and Springsteen himself has extremely negative views about Trump.

As per the Independent, back in June, Springsteen described Trump as a "threat to our democracy” and said he "makes any kind of reform that much harder".

"I love it when 'Born In The USA' is played with unintended irony," one Twitter user wrote in response to a video of the protestors playing the 1984 song.

A second remarked: "Apparently, these 7 people or so have never read or they don't understand the lyrics to 'Born in the USA'."

A third wrote: "We're well into the fourth decade of the American right wing [sic] not listening to the actual lyrics of Born in the USA."

Meanwhile, other commentators simply slammed the supporters for playing loud music near a hospital where people were attempting to get better.

Alongside an anger emoji, one wrote: "Really nice to see these people are not caring about the other patients in this HOSPITAL who don't need to hear that commotion."

News of the supporters' music choice comes after a Walter Reed doctor slammed Trump after he took a car journey with guards to wave at fans outside the hospital.
