President Donald Trump has taken to Twitter to blast Prime Minister Boris Johnson over the UK's new lockdown measures, which saw "Christmas being canceled" for many people.
On Saturday night (December 19), PM Boris Johnson revealed that large parts of the UK would have to endure stringent new measures in order to contain the spread of Covid-19.
As reported by Sky News, the dramatic U-turn comes just days after Johnson announced: "I want to be clear, we don't want to ban Christmas, to cancel it.
"I think that would be frankly inhuman and against the instincts of many people in this country. Nor do we want to criminalize plans people may have made for some time."

Now, under the new rules, people in 'tier 4' areas "must not leave or be outside of your home" unless they have a "reasonable excuse", such as work or medical reasons.
The new measures also mean that people from different households are no longer allowed to form a "bubble" around Christmas - resulting in Christmas being "canceled" for millions.
In response to the strict measures, US President Donald Trump swiftly took to Twitter to condemn Prime Minister Johnson's announcement.
Sharing two clips of the broadcast in two separate tweets, Trump wrote to his 88.6 million Twitter followers:
"The entire WORLD is being badly hurt by the China Virus, but if you listen to the Fake News Lamestream Media, and Big Tech, you would think that we are the only one.
No, but we are the Country that developed vaccines, and years ahead of schedule!"
The second tweet from the 74-year-old president read:
"We don’t want to have lockdowns. The cure cannot be worse than the problem itself!"
Per the John Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center, the United Kingdom has currently reported 2,010,088 confirmed cases of Covid-19, resulting in 67,177 deaths.
The United States, meanwhile, has reported 17,658,051 cases of the coronavirus, resulting in the deaths of 316,176 people.
Last month, US President-elect Joe Biden also announced that there would be "no circumstances" in which he would order a "total shutdown."
Per Bloomberg, Biden told the American people: "I’m going to shut down the virus, that’s what I’m going to shut down. I’ll say it again: No national shutdown. No national shutdown.
"Every region, every area, every community can be different. So there’s no circumstance that I can see which would require a total national shutdown."
