The 19-year-old Brit - from from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire - had been vacationing with his friends in Tenerife while attending the NRG music festival.

On June 16, Jay was partying with friends Lucy Mae Law and Brad Hargreaves at the Papagayo beach club in the lively resort of Playa de la Americas.

However, rather than return back to their shared accomodation, Jay chose to continue the evening with two British men he had met several days earlier.

After returning to their rented Airbnb in the village of Masca at approximately 05:30AM, Jay shared a Snapchat from outside of the property roughly two hours later.

With the next 90 minutes, he called both Brad and Lucy Mae and told them that he was going to attempted to walk back to their holiday apartment - a journey that would have taken him roughly 11 hours.

He was last seen by a local woman walking through the mountainous region of Parque Rural de Teno.

Just after 9:00AM on June 17, Lucy Mae reported Jay missing, and a frantic search involving specialist search teams, the Spanish Civil Guard, volunteers, and even TikTokers and TV detectives has ensued.

Despite Jay's family hoping for the best over the last four weeks, Sky News has reported a heartbreaking update on Monday (July 15).

In a statement, Spanish authorities have said that rescue teams have discovered human remains - with "evidence strongly suggesting" that they are those of Jay. According to the local Canarias Radio, the Civil Guard had found a body in the village of Masca - where Jay was last seen alive.

The statement from Spanish authorities reads: "The mountain rescue and intervention group of the Civil Guard has located the lifeless body of a young man in the Masca area after 29 days of constant search.

"Given the complexity of the case, the discovery has been possible thanks to the incessant and discreet search carried out by the Civil Guard during these 29 days, in which the natural space was preserved so that it would not be filled with curious onlookers.

"All indications indicate that it could be the young British man who has been missing since June 17 in the absence of full identification.

"The first investigations reveal that he could have suffered an accident or fall in the inaccessible area where he was found."

On X, Canarias Radio reports that the remains were found in a "steep and inaccessible" of the area.

Our thoughts continue to go out to Jay's family and loved ones at this time.
