On Saturday (April 17), the Royal Family - along with millions across the world - said goodbye to Prince Philip as he was laid to rest in St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
The ceremony was as poignant as it was intimate, with just 30 of the Duke of Edinburgh's closest family members being permitted to attend the funeral. These included the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince Andrew, and Princess Anne.
Also in attendance was future Queen Consort, Kate Middleton, who was able to honor both her late mother-in-law and Her Majesty the Queen with one subtle detail in her outfit.
When the Duchess of Cambridge arrived at Windsor Castle, she could be seen wearing an all-black outfit, accessorized with a pearl necklace known as the Four-Row Japanese Pearl Choker, the Independent reports.

Followers of the Royal Family will have recognized that Kate's choice of jewelry was a touching tribute to members of her family.
The necklace actually comes from Queen Elizabeth II's Royal Collection and was loaned to Middleton by the Queen herself, after Her Majesty was originally gifted the stunning piece by the Japanese Government in the 1970s, Vogue reports.
Queen Elizabeth II, 94, has worn the necklace multiple times throughout her reign - including during a 1983 visit to Bangladesh (see below).
Additionally, the choker was also worn on occasion by Middleton's late mother-in-law, Diana, the Princess of Wales.
Princess Diana wore the pearls in 1982 while attending a banquet for the British Royal Family hosted by Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus of the Netherlands at Hampton Court Palace.

Yesterday was not the first time Kate, 39, had chosen to wear the pearl choker, either.
Perhaps most fitting, the Duchess previously wore the necklace to a celebration dinner to commemorate the 70th wedding anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip back in 2017.
Seeing the pearls and the significance they carry will have hopefully given the Queen a small uplift on a day where the nation came together to mourn the loss of her husband.
