King Charles III has invited his son Prince Harry and daughter-in-law Meghan Markle to his upcoming coronation, a spokesperson for the Sussexes has confirmed.

Following the release of Prince Harry's memoir, Spare, earlier this year, many social media users speculated on whether or not the King would (or should) invite his youngest son to the May 6 celebration.

The 38-year-old prince's memoir was potentially the most revealing glimpse into the life of a major Royal that the public has ever been granted. In the book, Harry spoke about losing his virginity behind a pub, addressed the allegations against his uncle Prince Andrew, and even accused older brother Prince William of physically attacking him at his home.

Then, on the accompanying promotional media tour, he took part in a candid interview with ITV, during which, he revealed that he "would like to have his father back".

"I want a family, not an institution," Prince Harry said, adding that his family has "shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile."

Nevertheless - despite Prince Harry choosing to step away from his life as a senior Royal, start a new life in the US, and continue to discuss his struggles with his family - he and Meghan are still invited to his father's coronation.

Speaking to The Times, a spokesperson for the couple has revealed (per Metro): "I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the coronation."

However, it has not been revealed whether or not Harry and Meghan will attend, with the spokesperson adding: "An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time."

King Charles III's coronation will see the nation come together to witness the new monarch take the coronation oath before he is anointed, blessed, and consecrated by the Archbishop of Canterbury (as has been the tradition since 1066).

The new King will then receive the orb, scepters, and St Edward's Crown. Wife Camilla will also be crowned Queen Consort during the ceremony.

As previously mentioned, the coronation will take place on May 6 - which also just so happens to be the grandson Archie's fourth birthday.

Elsewhere during his media tour back in January, Prince Harry took part in an interview with Anderson Cooper for 60 Minutes.

During that interview, the prince revealed that he has felt forced to publicly air his concerns regarding his family in an effort to combat tabloid stories.

"Every single time I've tried to do it privately there have been briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife," he said. "You know, the family motto is 'never complain, never explain' - but it's just a motto."

Explaining the "leaking" and "planting", Harry continued: "They will feed or have a conversation with the correspondent. And that correspondent will literally be spoon-fed information and write the story.

"And at the bottom of it they will say that they've reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment. But the whole story is Buckingham Palace commenting."

"So when we're being told for the last six years, 'We can't put a statement out to protect you'... But you do it for other members of the family. It becomes - there becomes a point when silence is betrayal," he added.
