A man in his 40s has died after falling from the upper tier of Wembley Stadium during an Oasis concert on Saturday night.

The tragic incident unfolded just minutes before the band’s final song, as 90,000 fans gathered for the Gallagher brothers’ long-awaited reunion show.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 10:19PM, where they found the man with injuries consistent with a fall. Despite efforts by paramedics and venue medics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Oasis Responds: “Shocked and Saddened”

In a joint statement, per the Mirror, Oasis said: “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”

On Sunday night, Liam Gallagher addressed the tragedy during the band’s next Wembley performance, dedicating the song Live Forever “to all the people who can’t be here tonight, but who are here if you know what I mean — and aren’t they looking lovely.”

Concertgoers who witnessed the fall have described scenes of shock and confusion. One fan, seated in section 211 directly below where the man fell, initially thought a coat had been dropped.

“At first glance I thought it was a coat falling from the above tier but then I looked and saw the bloke on the concrete. It was horrific to see," she wrote on social media, per the Mirror.

Another woman, Claire Collier, said her friend’s daughter performed CPR on the man until paramedics arrived.

“It happened about [five] mins before the end of the gig, it was awful... thinking of his family and friends and everyone that witnessed it," Collier wrote.

Others in the crowd echoed the same sense of disbelief. Vincent Muylle, another fan present, said the atmosphere had been “euphoric” before the incident.

“He fell right in front of us," Muylle wrote. "It was very shocking.”

Petrina Whiley added, per the Mirror: “I think we are all in a state of shock at what happened last night.”

A parent attending the concert with their teenage son said the boy witnessed the fall but was too far away to see the impact.

"He asked me this morning to check for news about him, and there was nothing all morning so we hoped he was fine - so so sad to read the update this afternoon," the parent wrote.

Official Statements from Police and Wembley

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the death in a statement Sunday, per The Guardian: “A man – aged in his 40s – was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage.”

They urged anyone with relevant information or footage to contact the police via 101.

Wembley Stadium also issued a statement, which read: “Despite the efforts of medics, the fan very sadly died. Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers.”

Safety Concerns Raised by Fans

In the aftermath of the incident, fans have taken to social media to call for improved crowd management at large gigs.

“Oasis fans—please take care of one another at gigs,” wrote one attendee. “Last night at Wembley was incredible, but at times it felt genuinely dangerous… Some younger groups were pushing and surging forward. Security did their best, but there were a lot of people falling and needing help to get back up.”

Another said: “We’ve experienced metal gigs, festivals, mosh pits… but this was on a whole different level.”

Oasis Tour Continues Despite Tragedy

Despite the incident, the band continued with their scheduled performance the following evening. Sunday’s show marked the final night of the first leg of their Wembley run.

Oasis is set to return for two more shows at the venue on September 27 and 28, before continuing their Live 25 world tour with dates in Manchester, the US, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and South America through November.

Liam and Noel Gallagher, reuniting on stage for the first time in 16 years, have yet to speak about the tragedy beyond their official statement.

However, fans noted that Liam’s words before Live Forever carried particular weight on Sunday: “This one’s for all the people who can’t be here tonight, but who are here if you know what I mean. And aren’t they looking lovely.”

Our thoughts go out to the concertgoer's loved ones and anybody else impacted by this tragedy.
