Police have issued a heartbreaking update regarding two sisters who went missing after going for a walk in the middle of the night.

Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, 32-year-old identical sisters who are part of a set of triplets, were last seen in the early hours of January 7, near Market Street and Victoria Bridge in Aberdeen, Scotland, around 2:12AM.

They were later spotted on CCTV near Aberdeen Boat Club, per the Independent.

Originally from Hungary, the sisters were reported missing by their landlady after they unexpectedly indicated plans to end their tenancy.

Police have confirmed that extensive searches using specialist resources, including dive and marine units, police dogs, air support, and partner agency assistance, have now been completed in the River Dee and the harbor.

According to police, a text message was sent from Henrietta’s mobile phone at 2:12AM on January 7, from the area of Victoria Bridge.

The message informed the landlady that the sisters would not be returning to their flat. Shortly after, the phone was disconnected from the network and has not been active since.

The next day, the sisters’ personal belongings were found inside the flat, prompting their landlady to contact the police.

Superintendent David Howieson of Police Scotland provided an update on the investigation: “The investigation continues to trace Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, both 32, who were last seen on Market Street at the Victoria Bridge over the River Dee around 2.12 a.m. on Tuesday 7 January, 2025.

“Our thoughts are very much with their family at what is a very difficult time.

“Extensive and detailed searches have been carried out of the River Dee and the Harbour area, using local and national specialist police resources, including the dive and marine unit, police dogs and air support, and those of partner agencies.

“These searches have now concluded at this time, but enquiries will be ongoing to trace Eliza and Henrietta.

“Coastal areas, both north and south of Aberdeen city, will continue to be searched, and any further information received by police will be acted upon.

“I would again stress there is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances or criminality.”

Their disappearance has left their family searching for answers. Jozsef Huszti, the siblings’ brother, expressed his confusion in an interview with the BBC.

“We don’t understand this whole thing,” he said. “That they wrote a message to their landlady, that they wanted to immediately end their tenancy agreement. We didn’t have any information about that.

“So that’s the strange thing, that the girls didn’t tell us anything about that. They never mentioned any such plan.

“Even when my mother spoke to them on the Saturday, they didn’t mention anything about it, that they had any plan to move out.”

The family issued a statement earlier this month urging the public not to speculate or spread unverified claims: “Please do not spread any unfounded rumors.

“We can only say what’s already been in the news. The family is not in a position to give everyone separate information.

“Thank you all for being with us in these difficult times.”

Police continue to appeal for any information that could assist in locating Eliza and Henrietta.
