The Duchess of Sussex is <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/oct/02/put-simply-its-bullying-prince-harrys-full-statement-on-the-media" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">suing</a> British tabloid newspaper, the Mail on Sunday, for illegally publishing a private letter which it allegedly edited to proffer a negative portrayal of Meghan. In a damning statement published on the couple's website, Prince Harry said that the "relentless propaganda" about his wife was bullying, and went onto extol the human cost of such treatment. He cited the British press' positive portrayal of Meghan during their official royal tour of South Africa, which he deemed to be hypocritical, as one of the reasons why he decided to take action now. The Duchess of Sussex has been the subject of criticism since the announcement of her engagement. Backlash has been motivated by her appearance, which some commentators decry as being racially charged, to how the couple spend their money, and how they choose to travel.
